The truth is, I do want to share Trevor and I’s story with all of you, but it never occurred to me to do it until now when I’m struggling to write a Valentine’s Day post. I didn’t want to do something typical like date ideas, celebrating with your gal pals or self-love (even though I’m all about these options). So, what did that leave me with? Good ol’ Trevor. And why not? I mean it makes sense—I love him and it’s the day of love, so I might as well talk about him.
Instead of writing a long drawn out love story, though, I’m going to break this down Q+A style. To be honest, Trevor and I don’t really have this crazy interesting story (lol), but since I talk about him so much, you might as well get a little bit of inside info on him and our relationship overall. Here goes…
Chloe and Trevor Q+A
Where did you meet? A bar—very romantic. The Single Barrel to be exact. It was the day of the Nebraska spring football game in 2014. His friends walked in and knew my friends, so they sat down. Trevor got there 15 minutes later because he forgot his wallet at the strip club they were just in (not joking) and proceeded to tell me this within the first two minutes of us meeting that night.
What is your age difference? Trevor’s birthday is July 5, 1988 and mine is April 16, 1992. So, we’re just about four years apart. He turns 30 this year and his hair is migrating from his head to his back, so that’s good.
What was your first date? Trevor took me fishing with a cooler of Budweiser at a small residential pond in the middle of Lincoln. It felt a little odd because we were basically in some stranger’s backyard. I don’t know why we didn’t just go to one of the public lakes around Lincoln, but it was the thought that counted. It proceeded to start pouring rain so we found refuge in a bar, where I didn’t order any food because I told him I didn’t want to eat in front of him (WTF? Hahaha).
How long have you been together? We consider our anniversary the day we met because it was pretty much all downhill (or up, depending how you look at it) from there. So that means April 12, 2014 is our anniversary. So we’re at about 3 years and 10 months.
How did Trevor say I love you for the first time? Trevor did not say I love you first—I did. We had been seeing each other about eight months. We were at my sister’s husband’s sister’s wedding (try to keep up) and walking back to my sister’s house from the reception when I blurted it out and Trevor said “thank you!” I can’t make this stuff up, people. A few minutes later he backtracked and said he loved me too. Because of this very awkward first exchange, it took us a while to start saying it consistently without cringing.
When did you move in together? I thought I was moving away to NYC when Trevor said, “I don’t know why you want to go pay rent in NYC when you can just live with me for free.” He has regretted saying that ever since. Officially, we moved in together December 10, 2015.
What has been your greatest experience together? I would say getting our cats, Harry and Susan was pretty meaningful. But as far as an experience goes, our two week road trip last summer was pretty significant and was really fun to do together. I also have to mention a time Trevor and I went four wheeling in the snow together on his family farm and we got stuck in a very large drift. I was driving and Trevor’s grandpa had to come pull us out with a tractor. Very unfortunate at the time, but pretty hilarious to look back on.
Ok! I don’t want to make this too long, so I’ll wrap it up on that note! Tell me something fun about you and your love!
