I have a lot of organizational issues in my house, mostly due to lack of storage space, but my makeup situation was seriously out of control. The crazy part is that I really don’t even have that many products—a couple bottles of foundation, some bronzer, brow pencils, mascara—nothing crazy. So why was makeup so out of control?
I’ll tell you what I’ve learned—I have no idea why, but there’s a difference between throwing everything in a bag and each individual thing having its own place. I’m pretty sure this is the (sort of) theory behind the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up? I own this book, but of course haven’t read it in its entirety.
So anyway, like I said, my makeup bag was a complete disaster and I knew I needed to make a change. I’ve always fantasized about having a big enough bathroom to have the fancy slow-close drawers that have a million compartments and everything has its place. Well, I didn’t magically get my dream bathroom, nor is it within sight, so getting a freestanding organizer was my best option.
I headed into my local Ulta on the hunt for what I knew (hoped) would solve all (most) of my bathroom counter space problems. There were two options that had the cascading setup I was looking for, but one was clearly too big for my itty-bitty bathroom countertop, so I basically had one shot to make this whole thing work. I was honestly convinced that, although it was as big as I could go because of the size of my countertop, I wasn’t going to have enough space.
I’ve never been so happy to report I was wrong about the size! This little setup has worked perfectly for me. Even Trevor made a comment one morning that he had noticed my makeup had been much more “under control” since I adopted the organizer method.
In summation, whether you’re struggling with space, organization or both, I’m thinking this little contraption might just save your sanity.
