Ok so I have been dying to write this post for forever and am finally getting around to it. Back in May when Trevor and I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon we trained constantly leading up to the big day. We had no idea so much preparation had to go into getting ready for such a big race, especially since Trevor and I were not (and still aren’t) avid runners. Luckily I knew someone at the time who was an avid runner (it was 10th time running the Lincoln half) and he had all the tips and tricks.
The best thing he told me about was Body Glide. Body Glide looks like a little deodorant stick, but really it’s this magical solution that prevents chaffing, blisters and raw skin. The best part is that it doesn’t just rub off after an hour either. It repels moisture like sweat and water to last all. day. long.
So anyway, what started out as need for the half marathon turned into an everyday day necessity. I know the purpose of Body Glide is to help people be active and comfortable while hiking, biking, running and every other sport, but as it turns out, it’s fabulous for dress and skity wearing as well.
I wear skirts and dresses almost everyday in the summer and noticed that I was getting extrememly bad, what I call, chub rub. Also known as, I have big theighs and they rub together even when I walk. If I did any more walking than the regular trip from my desk to the bathroom I would notice raw skin and discomfort. So one day it occurred to me that if Body Glide could prevnt rubbing and chaffing while running, then it could probably do the same even when I wasn’t working out.
Tada! I was right. If you check out their website, you’ll see they have a bunch of specialized profucts depending on your needs are, but I’ve only used the blue original kind so far.
Moral of the story is you don’t have to be climbing a mountain to have a serious skin rubbing problem, so if you do, use body glide because it will save you lots of tears and irritated skin.
